- I had not studied English seriously until I came Istanbul Sehir University. Therefore, when I came here my english was terrible. My fist teachers helped me to improve my english skill too much especially Ayse Gül Yücel. I am thankful both of them. I studied very hard because my english was not enough and some of my friend had very good english.I need to catch up with my friends to follow lessons easily. Although, I studied hard, I failed in the second module, pre intermediate.I believe that repeating pre intermediate changed my english and my whole working strategies. At this module I started to read more english book and memorize words. These enabled me to develop my writing and reading skills.I didn't study grammar much because if you have good vocabulary, it is easy to do grammar and reading. Also, I started speaking with my teachers and friends easily because we were discussing about somethings with each other in class with teacher together. At this module generally I learn how to use words in writing and speaking. Then I passed intermediate which was the most difficult module. There were too many new words and grammar and the biggest problem assay.Again the key to learn a new language is to memorize words and read english book as I did.In addition, I needed to listen music or speech because of listening. At the intermediate we have to take notes to answer questions. Also, it was very challenging for me.In my experience,if you pass intermediate with a good grade, you won't face much difficulty at the upper. In the upper really I did not study because it wasn't difficult and I was fasted.Despite that I passed it.Now I am a pre faculty students and changed my studying method because it is unlikely to work learning language and preparing an exam by using the same way...

This a great reflection of year of learning English. I think that the first classes we have are always the most memorable. Also whenever we start to learn something we can our learning curve or the speed that we acquire things is so fast and so very dynamic. We must try to keep this dynamic feeling, learning fast and in small pieces that will make us feel like we are succeeding. I will tell Ayse Gul what you think. Can you think of any particular strategies that you used to succeed over the past year. When learning vocab or grammar, how was writing or listening best accomplished? Reflect a little more in specifics.

If you get them, your english will be Ok.
